He has already pulled out from the Byron Nelson Championship which will be held in Irving, Texas. He has also withdrawn form the Crown Plaza Invitational which will be held in Fort Worth. This was going to be his title defence but the man has put his family before his passion and sport and almost everyone man considers this to be the correct decision.

According to the statement released by the management company that handles Phil Mickelson, the cancer was detected after a whole bunch of tests. The main factor that is taken into consideration in such cases is when the cancer is caught and detected. If it is detected at an early age then there is a higher chance of survival. But the report did not mention as to when the cancer was detected and thus his fans are all left in the dark regarding the chances of Amy’s survival.

Amy was a former cheerleader for the Phoenix Suns and then got married to Phil Mickelson in the year 1996 and is one of the most active and visible wives in the PGA Tour. She has always stood by her husband through his thick and thin. She is also very much involved in charity and has made various contributions along with her husband. The couple have three children. Several players who are taking part in the Byron Nelson Classic have received text message from Phil Mickelson informing them about his wife’s condition and informing them that he will not be taking part in the tournament. Most of them know Amy personally and hence were very much affected by it.

The whole golfing world is praying for Amy’s quick recovery and Phil Mickelson’s return to his PGA Tour as the man clearly has a lot more to offer to all his fans and followers of the game.
